Welcome to Polk CDC

Since 1989, the mission of Polk Community Development has been able to provide the low and moderate income residents of Polk County with opportunities for high-quality, affordable housing, supported by self-help programs that assist historically underserved families and individuals in their efforts to achieve significant life goals.

Polk CDC is solely governed by a diverse Board of Directors comprised of eleven local residents. To learn more about Polk CDC and its history, visit the “Our Impact” section of the website.

In addition, Polk CDC also administers an affordable loan program and grant program in partnership with Polk County and local cities for income eligible homeowners for home improvements, and for upgrades for rental properties serving  low to moderate income families.

Polk CDC works hard to:

  • Develop and manage high-quality affordable rental housing for low to moderate income for historically underserved  populations, working families, senior citizens, disabled individuals, and individuals within the BIPOC  (black, indigenous and other people of color) community.
  • Provide low-interest housing rehabilitation loans and sometimes grants to help low to moderate income, eligible homeowners make necessary home repairs.
  • Help Polk County residents purchase their first homes by offering eligible individuals Individual Development Accounts (IDAs)and build other financial and personal assets by referring educational programs, credit and homebuyer programs.
  • Enrich the lives of Polk CDC's residents by providing resource and referral to needed services, asset-building opportunities, and hosting youth programs, and community events. The Polk CDC Property Management Team is fair, unbias and caring . Serving every resident with respect.
