Individual Development Accounts
Get a 3-to-1 match on your personal savings towards homeownership, higher education, or small business development. Polk CDC is one of the eight founding members of the Valley Individual Development Account (VIDA) collaborative, which has grown to include 42 community-based organizations throughout the State of Oregon.
MERIT (MicroEnterprise Resources, Initiatives, and Training)
Thinking about starting your own business? MERIT is a partner non-profit organization which provides classes and counseling to prospective small business owners in Polk, Marion, and Yamhill counties. Polk CDC partnered with four other local organizations to create the MERIT program in 2004. MERIT became an independent non-profit in 2008. Learn more at www.merit-microenterprise.org or contact them at 503-399-5088.
Youth Programs
We offer summer and after-school food and activities programs to help enrich the lives of children living in and around our properties. Since 1991, Polk CDC has also managed the Carol Hensley Memorial Children’s Fund, which provides small grants to help Polk County children pay for school clothes and supplies, summer camps, sports and activities fees, medical/dental co-pays, and other needs.
Classes
Financial Fitness and the ABC’s of Homebuying help Polk County residents take control of their finances and learn safe, sustainable paths towards homeownership.
