Wells Fargo grant aids financial education
Statesman-Journal (Salem, OR) Feb. 4, 2011
Wells Fargo recently donated $3,530 to the Polk Community Development Corporation for the provision of financial education classes.
Wells Fargo's Dallas branch manager Mike Barnes and business banker Don Holmberg presented the check to CDC Executive Director Rita Grady. The aim is for financial education, offered in English and Spanish, for low and moderate-income communities.
"Many experts consider lack of financial management knowledge to be a key factor behind low personal savings rates and high rates of consumer debt," Grady said. "The classes we provide will help local residents learn how to manage their money wisely, strengthen their credit scores and start to build their personal assets."
CDC will hold four-session, 10-hour classes in Dallas and Independence, and developed by an Oregon State University professor and taught by local bank volunteers. For information, call (503) 831-3173.
